The Sorano Dwarf Boral Bean is a Traditional Agricultural Product (PAT) on the national list approved by the Ministry of Agriculture And Forestry, whose requirements are regulated by the production regulations of the Tuscany region.

Features

The dwarf boral bean of Sorano is a cultivar with determined growth, it does not need support.
The seed is kidney-shaped, white with red mottles.

It is produced from April to June.

Cultivation

After the preparation of the soil and the bottom fertilization, the seed is planted in rows in April.
It is a rather demanding cultivar, it requires good irrigation and fertilization, fresh and well drained soils.

It has been produced since the 16th century; it is used to make soups and soups, as a side dish, alone or with sausage and cotiche.

It is often accompanied by Morellino red wine.
Many say that this bean, for quantity and for the excellent flavor, was a dominant element in the diet of the inhabitants of Sorano and Pitigliano.
